Over repeated visits

Everyone becomes the family I choose for my self in the present, artist and people of a similar sensibility.

Over repeated visits and residency periods in Aomori, Rikuzentakata, Iwaki Fukushima, Harlech, Cardiff, Nottingham, London and Florence. I look to how we then reduce these geographical distances, to arrive at the moment of performance together in one place, with the viewer.

I search for the vitality of a place. And that for me, begins by an encounter with people. I have a need to build my own relationship with a place, to gain my physical orientation, to become part of a place, disappear into it, it the place and the process of dance, I look to the structure of a community, or how we form new communities, systems of working that remain open, that responded to the moment of encounter, to a variety of possibilities, a reorientation, each person is a part of that process from the youngest of children to the oldest of adults, each an equal entity, an autonomy, together creating a welcoming performance environment. In a way everyone becomes the family I choose for my self in the present, artist and people of a similar sensibility. We feel something before we see it, reality into a metaphor, a process of becoming, a regeneration, collapse to recovery.

Mewn ffordd mae pob un yn ffurfio’r teulu yr wyf yn ei ddewis ar fy nghyfer fy hun yn y presennol, artistiaid a phobl gyda synwyrusrwydd tebyg
Dros ymweliadau dro ar ôl tro a chyfnodau preswyl yn Aomori , Rikuzentakata , Iwaki Fukushima , Harlech , Caerdydd , Nottingham , Llundain a Florence . Rwy’n edrych ar sut y byddwn wedyn yn lleihau’r pellteroedd daearyddol hyn i gyrraedd ar hyn o bryd o berfformiad mewn un lle , ynghyd â’r gwyliwr .

Rwyf yn chwilio am fywiogrwydd lle. Ac i mi mae hynny’n cychwyn drwy gyfarfod â phobl. Rwyf angen meithrin fy mherthynas fy hun â rhywle, sefydlu fy nghyfeiriadedd corfforol, dod yn rhan o rywle, diflannu ynddo, mewn lleoliad a phroses dawns, rwyf yn edrych ar strwythur cymuned, neu ar sut ydym yn ffurfio cymunedau newydd, systemau o weithio sy’n aros yn agored, a ymatebodd i gyfarfyddiad, i amrywiaeth o bosibiliadau, i ailgyfeirio, mae pob person yn rhan o’r broses honno o’r plant ieuengaf i’r bobl hynaf, pob un yn endid cyfartal, yn annibynnol, a phawb gyda’i gilydd yn creu amgylchedd perfformio croesawgar. Mewn ffordd mae pob un yn ffurfio’r teulu yr wyf yn ei ddewis ar fy nghyfer fy hun yn y presennol, artistiaid a phobl gyda synwyrusrwydd tebyg. Rydym yn teimlo rhywbeth cyn ein bod yn ei weld, realiti’n troi’n drosiad, proses o fodoli, adfywiad, methiant yn troi’n adferiad.
